Our Church's Story

Elim Christian Fellowship was officially launched on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 in New Jersey. We are unique in that while several churches closed during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Elim started not in a building but online, via Zoom, during the height of the pandemic.

In-person services were launched on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. Elim is both an in-person and a Zoom congregation.

We are a diverse congregation in New Jersey with members connecting via Zoom from Florida, Maryland, New York, Philadelphia, Texas, Barbados, and Toronto.

Who are we?

Elim Christian Fellowship is a diverse, Christ-centered church helping people become like Jesus!

Why the name - ELIM?

The name Elim is taken from Exodus 15:27:

Then they {the Israelites} came to Elim where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water. For the Israelites who had just escaped from slavery in Egypt, crossed the Red Sea by foot, and entered the desert, Elim was an Oasis that represented:

  1. A place of rest in the shade of the seventy palm trees.
  2. A place of provision. God had provided twelve springs of clean, fresh water for these thirsty, hungry, weary travelers.
  3. It was a peaceful place where they could reflect and experience the presence of God while enjoying fellowship with each other.
  4. It was also a place of preparation – Moses would have had the opportunity to prepare them for their long and difficult journey through the wilderness to the land God had promised to give them.

The significance of the name Elim for our Church:

  1. It signifies an Oasis - a place of Spiritual rest and refreshing where the presence of God can be experienced in worship.
  2. A place of refuge and hope amid the chaos in the world.
  3. It is a safe place for children and young people to learn and grow as children of Jesus Christ.
  4. A place where we are equipped to spread the love of God and take the message of salvation to the world.
Elim Christian Fellowship seeks to be a friendly, racially, and ethnically diverse congregation who:

  • Love and Worship God

  • Teach Biblical truth

  • Learn and grow together

  • Take the message of salvation in Jesus Christ to the world

  • Meet the needs of the less fortunate

  • Prioritize youth and children’s ministry

Elim Christian Fellowship is a Christ-centered church committed to helping people become like Jesus.
